My 1kB Club Entry! And md2dom.

Sun, 26 Oct 2025

A while ago I submitted my website sauernordworks.eu to the 1kB Club.
It's the front to a personal project I have going on where I explore reduction and the functional minimum of things.
For this website I took that idea to heart and made a functional 176B HTML page, mostly just to see how far I could reduce HTML without sacrificing styling and usability. The hyperlink on the page leads to a short description of SauerNordWorks which is also only 369B in size.
Maybe calling it a webpage rather than a website is a bit more fair, but regardless I am quite proud of it somehow.
Yes, it's just a very simple idea and I am sure it has done before, I just have not seen it anywhere yet.

My main websites elinlyze.com start page is just 833B, but with that I am focussing more on making an actual usable link tree and part of a website. At some point I want to redesign it completely to fit more in the concept of a website rather than a linktree, still without javascript and minimal CSS of course.

I also made myself a little HTML tool recently based on marked.js to turn plaintext or markdown into DOM ready HTML called md2dom.
You can find it on GitHub or use my web hosted version here.
While plenty tools exist that do the same and some are much, much more capable (like Pandoc), they all offered more than I needed and were visually not what I would like to use.
There will be some bugs and some features are missing that I may or may not add in the future and without the help of my dear friend Leon and some help of clankers I wouldn't have been able to do it myself to start with.

I hope you are having a good day and see you soon! <3

Edit 27 Oct:
My SauerNordWorks webpage is now 135B and the about page is 296B. I changed some wording, the old was too pretentious for me and did not fully reflect what it's about.
Now I am am much happier with the results :)
